I hear it all the time – you know, good things come to those who hustle. I love that word because it really does describe perfectly what it takes in order to be successful.
Now, success is a relative term. I believe that we all define our own success, and its up to you to figure out what success looks like for your own life and business. But one thing those of us in the industry all agree upon is that success is HARD.
There are no four hour work weeks or vacations when you are just getting started. Owning a business, especially a wedding planning business, is not a one-way ticket to financial prosperity.
You are hustling. every. single. day.
For work. For clients. To prove that you have what it takes. Weddings mean sixteen hour days, on your feet. Getting blamed for things that are far beyond your control. Working until midnight when you’d rather be sleeping. And you continue to push through.
I see so many people that don’t update their websites or social media; who don’t take advantage of every single networking opportunity that comes their way. These are the things guys! Success isn’t for the lazy, like that quote says. And it’s not going to just come knocking on your door.
[Tweet “If you want to find success, you’re going to have to break through the damn door yourself.”]
This is what it means to hustle. It means doing what it takes and not giving up. It’s thinking creatively and outside the box.
IT MEANS NOT BEING AFRAID OF FAILURE.
Because you WILL experience failure in this endeavor. You will experience clients that hate you, want their money back. Photo shoots that you are responsible for that fall apart, that don’t get picked up. Vendors that are upset because you didn’t give them appropriate credit or didn’t hold up your end of the deal.
You have to get through it. You have to hustle through it in order to find that success and realize that it’s all part of your journey.
